Volkswagen reclaims lead, sales up 9% – Best Selling Cars Blog – KVR News

Volkswagen is the best-selling brand in Uruguay in September.

4,684 new light vehicles hit Uruguayan roads in September, that’s a solid 9% year-on-year increase. It leads to a year-to-date volume up 2.1% to 38,123 units. Volkswagen (+25.6%) is the best-selling brand in the country for the second time in the past 4 months with 12.9% share vs. 12% so far this year. It distances last month’s leader Suzuki (+7.8%) still evolving much higher than YTD at 12.2% vs. 8.8% over the first 9 months of 2022. Chevrolet (+138.7%) catches up on microchip crisis year-ago levels but drops one spot on August to #3. The American brand remains #1 year-to-date with 13.9% of the market Toyota (+9.6%), Hyundai (+8.3%) and Citroen (+4.7%) are also up in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Nissan (-52.3%), Peugeot (-31.9%) and Fiat (-30.1) BYD (+711.1%) leads the Chinese charge at #11, followed by Chery (+81.5%) at #12, Geely (+154.2%) at #14 and Jetour (+100%) at # 15.
