Tesla Model Y takes charge of euphoric market (+30.4%) – Best Selling Cars Blog – KVR News

The Icelandic new car market surges 30.4% year-on-year in 2022 to 16,682 units, the best performance of any European country. Toyota (+53.8%) manages to frailly outrace the market and improve its share from 14% to 16.5%, overtaking Kia (-2.7%) to become the best-selling carmaker in the country. Hyundai (+26.3%) and Tesla (+19.6%) camp on their 2021 rankings at #3 and #4 respectively. Dacia (+192%) and Mitsubishi (+163.2%) storm up the charts, with Dacia gaining 12 spots to #5 and Mitsubishi up 9 to #6. Notice also Polestar ending its first full year of sales at an excellent 12th place with 2.8% share.

The Tesla Model Y (+90.9%) almost doubles its sales year-on-year to take control of the models ranking with 6.1% share. It topples last year’s winner the Toyota RAV4 (+29.7%) down one spot to #2. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (+89.1%) has an excellent year and advances three spots to #3, but not as good as the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross (+509.8%) and Dacia Duster (+205.5%) up 28 and 6 spots respectively to #4 and #5. The Kia Sportage (+86.7%) also shines at #6 with the Polestar 2 cracking the Top 10 at #8 for its first full year of sales, making the Top 8 100% SUV. The Skoda Enyaq (+110.9%) also breaks into the Top 10 at #10, while the Kia EV6 (+522.9%) falls short at #11 but advances 55 ranks on last year.
